Toshiba Residents Program

Toshiba
The SRU Toshiba Residents Program is funded by a grant from Toshiba America. The grant allows the SRU to waive the $350 registration fee and provide a travel stipend of $650 for up to 15 residentsor fellows (trainees) with an interest in pursuing a career in ultrasound to attend the SRU annual meeting.

The criteria for the program are as follows:

  • Trainees from institutions in the United States and Canada are eligible to apply.
  • The winner of the 2013 Member-in-Training award is not eligible for the program.
  • A maximum of 15 trainees will be accepted for the program, one per institution, unless fewer than15 institutions submit a candidate. Preference will be given to those institutions that did not sendresidents to the 2012 Toshiba Residents program.
  • Two residents per institution may be nominated. If one resident is selected, the institution mayelect to send two residents for a reduced total travel stipend of $300 and waiver of both registrationfees.
  • Applicants must be nominated by an SRU member (Active, Charter or Fellow), who shouldsubmit an e-mail message to sroberts@acr.org indicating the trainee’s interest in pursuing a career inultrasound. The message should also indicate that the trainee has been given permission to attend themeeting.
  • Nominees who are selected for the program will be expected to submit an ultrasound-relatedteaching case for the Residents’ Page of the SRU website by September 20, 2013. If the case is notreceived by the deadline, the candidate will be removed from the list of Toshiba Residents and anindividual from the waiting list will be selected to attend in his or her place. Teaching cases will beconsidered for publication in Ultrasound Quarterly, the official journal of the SRU.
  • All expenses incurred to attend the meeting, with the exception of the waived registration fee andthe $650 stipend, are the responsibility of the applicant or his/her radiology residency program.
  • Stipends will be mailed to participants by check after the meeting. No stipends will be issued toanyone who is accepted to the program but fails to attend.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is August 23, 2013. Nominations received after that date willnot be accepted. Participants in the program will be selected from among the applicants by lotteryconducted at the administrative office. Applicants and their nominators will be notified by August 30, 2013 whether they have been accepted for the program.
