The SRU annual meeting will be held Friday through Sunday, October 24-26, 2008 in the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The program will include a plenary session on controversies in sonography and half-day sessions on women’s imaging, emergency ultrasound, vascular ultrasound and learning from the experts’ mistakes. Head to Toe Ultrasound, an eight-hour comprehensive review of medical imaging using ultrasound, will be presented on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Book vendor exhibits will be available throughout the meeting, and equipment manufacturers will sponsor an opening reception on Friday evening, at which time they will provide informal demonstrations of the most up to date systems.

The SRU has recently joined the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging, an initiative of the Society for Pediatric Radiology. The Alliance has recently launched an Image Gently campaign, the goal of which is to change practice by increasing awareness of the opportunities to lower radiation dose in the imaging of children. The American College of Radiology has launched a new website called ACRIVS (ACR International Volunteer System) to provide access to its members and other visitors interested in providing assistance to countries outside the United States.
